Video #2- An Interview With My Grandfather

My grandfather, Thomas Hashem has always been someone I have looked up to, and in this video we talk about his life as a cowboy and farrier (someone who shoes horses). Born in 1947 in Buffalo, New York, the Wild-West films and radio shows of the era always fascinated my grandpa. And when his little sister developed a heart condition, the whole Hashem family moved to Arizona to get away from the cold climate. My grandfather saw this as an opportunity to live out the dreams of his childhood, and at the age of 23, he graduated from Phoenix’s Western’s School of Horseshoeing in 1970. From there he made a lot of memories a career that lasted over 40 years.
